When I need something at home, instead of taking a trip to the store I try and rustle up the materials from around my apartment to build, sew or fix it myself. I am motivated by the challenges and limitations of my materials. My work springs from a love of figuring it out, dabbling and experimenting.
I am inspired:
By the things we need and use in our lives - how value is derived not only from an objects beauty but also its ability to play an active role in the everyday. By the way wear and tear of human use enlivens rather than diminishes an objects value; art should be allowed to have a finite lifespan. By human touch, which ensouls functional objects in a way that a machine cannot.
